they throw stones here

i had another interview today. it's so strange to sit in an interview and just not give a frick. i've always been the one wanting to impress. for most jobs i hear about here though, it is the interviewer who must blow me away or i don't take the job. the woman i met today is absolutely desperate for a foreigner; her clients are demanding her to hire a few foreigners. but with the salary and working conditions on offer, i simply do not see how she's gonna get anyone but locals to take the job.

i left the interview early because this guy was arrested while we were talking. the dude believes only maharashtrans should live in maharashtra (the state in which bombay is located), and there are gonna be riots. many of the taxi and rickshaw drivers are from north india, and his supporters tend to attack taxis and ricks and shops owned by non-maharashtrans. there's been one death so far (he was arrested about 2 hours ago) and almost all the shops i passed on my way home were shuttered, dark and closed up. people are tense and it wouldn't take much for everything to go to shit. we'll see. i'll be staying home tonight, as i am not from maharasthra. (shh, don't tell anyone.)

i'm gonna start eating more salads. big, honkin', juicy, fresh, raw salads. mmmmmmmmm. i've stayed away from most fresh produce because it's usually what causes the bombay belly, but i've been here long enough that my stomach's adjusted. (and i've gained enough weight that a bout of bombay belly wouldn't be an entirely unwelcome experience.) i'd like to have one now, but winnie's already gone home. shit. well, i'll have a little bourbon now, and then i'll have salad on friday when she comes back to work. (is that better, jj?)

Yes, thank you... He said, while chewing chocolate covered pretzels.
