i've missed the west

never mind the dust specks ...

there are few things i love as much as an empty, wide-open road in the dead of summer.

my camera is dirty.  i have tons of pictures of wide open skylines ... pictures that i actually LIKE, and right smack in the middle of the gorgeous, perfect sky (something which you probably realize we have very little of in bombay) is a dust speck!  a HUGE dust speck!  something that lightroom is freaking out about and being a little bitch about fixing.  damnit.  this is crap.

camping

we're still camping, currently in arizona for 2 nights here ... it's raining off and on, but overall the weather has been amazing the whole trip.  ZERO humidity, clean and clear air, cool nights, and not a hint of southeast asia anywhere.  

after a literally killer mexican breakfast, we're headed back to bed ... you may find us later in the day catching a matinee.  this is the true outdoorsy, road trip experience!  in fact, so far, it's EXACTLY what i'd hoped it would be.

prescott tomorrow, salt lake city on saturday, portland sunday.

it's begun

the great utah adventure is now officially under way.  we got in late thursday to attend a couple friends' wedding on saturday.   

we hit up rei this morning, rented a tent, and hit the road.  we're now in price, utah (in a motel), planning to drive down to prescott, az to see friends and family ... and then loop back up to slc to catch a flight to pdx on the 21st.

it's been unbelievably dramatic so far.  we (m) got rattled at by a rattlesnake, i'm suffering miserably from a massive allergy attack, and there is a dangerous bumblebee living under the passenger seat of the car.  it'll be a miracle if we make it through this road trip alive!

m has left the country.  which is awesome.  cuz it means i'm leaving next!!!  4 days from this very  moment, i'll be sitting in the mumbai international airport, waiting to board the plane.  i'll probably sob as it leaves the ground.

haha.  i sound miserable.  i'm not, entirely.  i'm just READY.

bad blogger, me!  

life's been jam-packed.  soooo, so, so busy with this new(ish) job.  not only have the hours been long, but the projects i'm working on, hell ... never mind the projects ... everything i do here, whether it's new or not, is an unpredictable experience.  i'm learning a lot, and my resume will be awesome after doing this, so i'm happy with it all in general.  it just doesn't leave me with a lot of fabulous blog fodder.  

shit!  this beer tastes like butter!  we got a whole box of bum beer.  this is truly sad.

360 hours.

frickin' monsoon

the problem is bad, so bad.  there are probably 20 towels sopping up the leaks at any given time, and they are ALL soaked within an hour.  we are using every bucket and bowl/pot/container in the house to catch the water.  the landlord doesn't give a shit.  there's mold growing in the bedroom and living room.  an electrical outlet has come detached from the wall, directly underneath the leaks, and is starting to look like a dangerous situation.  ... and she still doesn't give a shit.  it's unbelievable.  ...  and come the end of next month, we're gonna have to give her a lump payment for the NEXT NINE MONTHS of rent.  makes me happy!

india was showing drugstore cowboy on tv today.  it was so great seeing portland on the tiny screen ... all the way over here!
